Rewind is in business for two years now and still running smooth. We are looking to fastforward to 2012 with even higher ambitions and make our dreams come true.

From a shop we turned in to interior project managers, think tank contributors, jury members for the Remix project in the design academy in Mechelen.

Rewind maakt kunstwerk voor Boek.be

Prachtig boekmeubel van "Dave Binder voor Rewind" te bezichtigen op tentoonstelling ter ere van 75 jaar Boekenbeurs in Letterenhuis in Antwerpen. Binnenkort meer foto's.

Boek.be gaf ons 75 jaargangen van het Boek in Vlaanderen en vroeg hier een kunstwerk mee te maken. Dave Binder heeft met zijn medewerkers dagenlang geëxperimenteerd en uiteindelijk besloten 69 boeken bladzijde per bladzijde te lijmen. Dit zou leiden tot het beste resultaat om het boek zijn stevigheid te geven. Daarna hebben ze het ondergedompeld in een epoxy coating, wat een secuur werk is en niet voor mensen zonder ervaring. De boeken zijn de bouwstenen geworden van het kunstwerk door ze alleen met lijm en epoxy aan elkaar te bevestigen. Het resultaat is 75 jaargangen vereeuwigd onder een prachtige glanslaag.

Dave Binder koos voor de stoel en een lessenaar. Hierbij week hij af van de originele opdracht. Een fauteuil met een blok. Maar de stoel en de lessenaar vond hij qua symboliek meer spreken. Waar hebben wij en onze schrijvers leren lezen en schrijven? Aan lessenaars. En nog altijd. De basis wordt nog altijd gelegd in het onderwijs om te komen tot schrijverschap.

REPLEX 03 arrived in Rewind!

This table is assembled with old discarded furniture. The typical antique curved legs of cupboards, tables, chairs are sliced in to thin pieces of 3 mm and than laminated on an oak frame ( FSC labeled). The gaps between the slices of furniture are filled up with an epoxy. The customer is free to chose the color of the epoxy. If you want a very unique stylish table, than you are welcome to visit us in our showroom.

Piet Hein Eek

We've got a new collection of baskets by the hand of Piet Hein Eek in cooperation with Fair Trade Original. The baskets and tableware are made of palmwood or Buxus. Not to be confused with the palm that delivers oil and is devastating for the rainforest.

Remix! exhibition 5th of march in Rewind

Students from the design academy of the Lessius Hogeschool in Mechelen were instructed to work around re-use. They had to pick one object from the second hand shop and turn it into a better and more usable object than it was before.

Rewind was in the jury together with the teacher designers to judge the creations on their usability, originality, sustainability and their commercial feasibility.

A part of the results can be seen in Rewind the month of march. The exposition will be opened with a drink.

The Remix project is a project in the design academy started by designer teachers like Patrick Reuvis, Rudi Respeel, Bart Baccarne, who also work a lot around re-use and design. The Lessius Hogeschool is the leading design academy in Belgium who try to evoke an awareness of sustainability and up cycling.

Rewind will be involved in an ideation session about demolition wood and how to reintroduce it in society. Organised by I-propeller in cooperation with Komosie and Plan C. We are very interested in this brainstorm with manufacturers, designers, importers and resellers.
